Shaoyi founded SYLA in 2016. As a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Master’s degree in Architecture (M.Arch) and a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (B.FA), he is a registered architect in British Columbia and a LEED-accredited professional. With over a decade of experience in high-end residential and commercial projects, Shaoyi brings a refined approach to meeting the needs of discerning clients.
Shaoyi’s appreciation for diverse cultures informs his belief that design should reflect its context and identity. Known for his attention to detail, he approaches each project with precision and a touch of Zen.

Wendy is a Registered Interior Designer with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Melbourne. Her path to interior design began with studying buildings at the architectural scale, but she found herself most drawn to the intimate questions: how does morning light shape your breakfast routine? Where does your family naturally gather? How do daily rhythms inform the spaces we call home?
For twelve years, Wendy has worked on residential projects across Metro Vancouver. Her architectural training gives her a foundation in structural systems, building codes, and spatial thinking. This background helps her coordinate with engineers, anticipate construction challenges, and create solutions that are both beautiful and buildable.
Wendy holds credentials as a Registered Interior Designer (RID) through the Interior Designers Institute of BC, and is certified in sustainable design through LEED, which focuses on creating healthier, more energy-efficient homes.
